Founded by Khadijah Laudat in 2023, Lauda Collection In the realm of Islamic wear, I’ve often observed a lack of balance, with portrayals swinging between extremes. Coming of age in a conservative environment, I witnessed the rigidity of norms, where the one-size-fits-all approach dominated, stifling individual expression. The conventional expectation of a full jilbab abaya with a face veil overshadowed the diverse preferences and practicalities of women’s lives, dating back to the 1990s.
My vision for Lauda Collection is to bridge this gap by offering a nuanced approach to modest fashion, catering to women worldwide, from devout to moderate, and those exploring modesty for the first time. Recognizing that women’s needs vary due to health, climate, and cultural factors, I strive to provide garments that are not only modest but also practical for everyday life.
Through deep immersion in Islamic culture and religion, I’ve witnessed an evolution towards modesty that goes beyond mere material coverage. Today, it’s about embracing shapes and styles that allow women to feel empowered and beautiful on their own terms, reclaiming agency over their appearance.
At the heart of Lauda Collection is the belief that women dress for themselves and each other, not simply for the male gaze. I envision a diverse array of options for expressing modesty, understanding that every woman’s journey is unique and valid. Our clothing is not about conforming to a standard but about embracing individual religious modesty with authenticity and confidence.
In this journey, I see immense untapped potential for women’s Islamic clothing, with room for multiple expressions of modesty. Just as religion offers a staircase of spiritual growth, our fashion should accommodate the diverse paths women walk. Embracing our imperfections and adaptability, we celebrate the uniqueness that defines us, offering clothing that inspires and empowers women to be heard, seen, and valued as integral members of society.
